Speaking to reporters here on the sidelines of a function marking the party’s foundation day, she said, “This is an inspiring step for us and we welcome it. It will be a dream come true for women to become partners in framing laws. We congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Referring to the Prime Minister’s recent remarks, Andrabi said that while campaigning in Kerala, Narendra Modi had stated that the Budget session of Parliament has been extended by three days to facilitate the implementation of the law enacted in 2023, which provides 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies from 2029.
“The Prime Minister has already made it clear that he wants to empower women in the country. What could not be achieved in 70 years has been made possible in just 11 years, and we will see an increased number of women lawmakers in assemblies and Parliament,” she said.
Referring to the party’s standing in Jammu and Kashmir, Andrabi said that the BJP has emerged as a stronger force in the Union Territory over the past few years and asserted that it will continue to grow in strength and popularity. “The development and progress in J&K under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi is evident. The opposition parties now have nothing substantial to say against the BJP,” she added.
Meanwhile, J&K BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur said that the party is built on the enduring principles of nationalism, democracy, Gandhian socialism, positive secularism (Sarva Dharma Sambhav), and value-based politics, which continue to guide its policies and public outreach.
He added that sustained efforts are being made to boost industries, generate employment, and strengthen the country’s economic backbone.
Congratulating party workers on the occasion, Thakur urged them to remain dedicated to the party’s principles and work tirelessly for the welfare of the people to ensure a stronger, more inclusive, and self-reliant India.
