RAJOURI, Jan 18: A middle-aged woman tied up and packed in a large polythene bag was found in a distressing condition in Tandwal area on the outskirts of Rajouri town this evening.
The bag was lying in the bushes at an isolated place, some distance away from the road. Local residents alerted the police after hearing the woman’s cries for help. Upon arrival, the police found the woman with her hands and feet tied with rope and sealed in a large plastic bag. She could manage to tore a portion of plastic bag using her teeth. The culprits perhaps had taken her as dead after being packed in the plastic bag. She was immediately taken to GMC Rajouri.
The victim was later identified as Azeem Akhter, wife of Sabar Hussain, a resident of Kakora village in Manjakote. She was presently residing at a rented accommodation with her family in Ward No, 9, Rajouri.
As per Akhter’s statement to the police, she had coming to Rajouri for some work and boarded an auto-rickshaw, after which she doesn’t remember what happened to her and how did she reach there until she regained consciousness.
The police have informed her family and started an investigation into the incident. The police was working on all angles, It said the possibility of sexual and murder angle can not be ruled out. Further investigation was in progress.
