JAMMU, May 22: A woman was apprehended with a large quantity of contraband in the Sunjwan area of Jammu today.
Acting on routine foot patrol, a police team from Police Post Bhatindi, led by ASI Rajesh Kumar, intercepted the woman near Eid Gah in Malik Market, Sunjwan.
During the frisking, the police recovered approximately 1.5 kilograms of a ganja-like substance from a black polythene bag she was carrying. The accused has been identified as Meemi, wife of Mahavir, a resident of Qasim Nagar, Jammu.
Following the recovery, a case was registered under FIR Number 163/2025 at the concerned police station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, specifically Section 8/20.
Police said further investigation is underway to trace the source of the narcotics and ascertain whether the accused is part of a larger drug distribution network.
