Woman drug peddler booked under PIT NDPS Act

JAMMU, Dec 19: A notorious woman drug peddler was booked under the PIT NDPS Act by police in Bishnah area here today and later lodged in District Jail Udhampur.
Neelam Devi of Dhinday Khurd, Tehsil Bishnah, District Jammu was booked under the PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, a police official said.
According to him, multiple FIRs under the NDPS Act were registered against the drug peddler for her involvement in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth of the area.
Despite her arrest in NDPS cases, she didn’t mend her activities and was again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to the local youth in order to achieve monetary gains by wrongful method, he said.
He said the accused remained successful every time in securing the bails from the courts and in order to stop her from indulging in criminal activities, a dossier under the stringent PIT NDPS Act was recommended against her, and submitted to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu. The latter issued warrant against her, he said.
Accordingly, the woman was arrested by a team of Police Station Bishnah headed by SHO Bishnah, Inspector Sushil Choudhary under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Nikhil Gogna, SP Headquarters IH Rather and overall supervision of SSP Jammu Joginder Singh.
