Srinagar, Nov 25: Police in Anantnag today arrested a woman drug peddler from Bijbehara area of Anantnag district.
A police spokesman said that in a major step against drug trafficking, Bijbehara Police Station, Anantnag apprehended a woman drug peddler identified as Gulshana, wife of Mohammad Yousuf Ganie, a resident of Takiya Maksood Shah, Bijbehara.
The arrest followed the recovery of approximately 8 kilograms of a cannabis powdery substance from her possession. The seizure was made during a naka (checkpoint) operation conducted by the Police team in the area.
“Subsequently, a case has been registered under FIR No. 226/2024, U/S 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Bijbehara. Investigation is ongoing, and further legal proceedings will follow”.
