UDHAMPUR, Aug 6: A woman was killed while eight other persons were injured when a mini-bus turned turtle on the road near Kheri in Udhampur area today.
Reports said a mini-bus, bearing registration number JK02X-3403, which was on its way from Chenani to Udhampur, met with an accident near Khari after its driver lost control over the vehicle. The vehicle over turned on the road, causing injuries to at least nine passengers.
Locals of the area and police rushed to the spot and shifted injured persons to DH Udhampur.
The injured persons were identified as Swarn Singh (42), son of Munshi Ram of Chart; Madan Lal (55), son of Mool Raj of Chenani; Sunali Devi (21), daughter of Rajinder Kumar of Chenani; Amit Kumar (45),son of Manpal Singh of Dharmthal; Shika (20), daughter of Madan Lal of Dharmthal; Saltha (23), wife of Khalid of Udhampur; Veda (55), wife of Gulzar of Udhampur.
A woman was brought dead to hospital. She was later identified as Santosh Devi (30), wife of Mohan Lal, resident of Kalasar Garian, Dhanas, Tehsil Chenani. Udhampur Police registered the case and started investigation. The mini-bus driver escaped from the spot.
