Woman Cop Dismissed In J&K Over Drug Case Involvement

SRINAGAR, Apr 9: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday dismissed a woman employee from service over her alleged involvement in a drug-related case.
Police Follower Shameema Bano was placed under suspension in June 2021 following her arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu, in connection with a case registered under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act involving the seizure of contraband.
A departmental inquiry was subsequently initiated, police said.
“Upon conclusion of the enquiry and after following due departmental procedures, SSP Baramulla, in exercise of powers vested under the relevant provisions of the J&K Police Rules, has issued an order dated 08.04.2026 for removal of the official from service,” police said.
District Police Baramulla reiterated its firm commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability within the force, adding that any involvement of police personnel in unlawful activities will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. (AGENCIES)
