POONCH, Jan 6: A woman was captured and rescued by the Army when she was trying to cross over to Pak occupied Kashmir from Shahpur area of Poonch district today.
Official sources said that Shaheen Akhtar, 35, wife of Mohd Akram Faiza, a resident of Mohalla Jatta, Shahpur, was rescued by the Indian Army today near the border (LoC) after an attempt to cross over due to alleged domestic violence.
Sources reveal that the incident occurred around 10 am today when Shaheen, reportedly distressed by disputes with her in-laws, left her home. Her husband is currently working in Saudi Arabia, leaving her vulnerable to family conflicts.
While attempting to cross the border, she was intercepted by vigilant Army personnel, who acted promptly to ensure her safety. Following thorough questioning and necessary verification, Shaheen was handed over to her family members.
The local police and administration have been informed, and further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
