Wiring theft case solved; 2 held, property worth lakhs recovered

JAMMU, Mar 19: With the arrest of two individuals, Police today claimed to have solved a theft case involving stolen electrical wiring from an under-construction house in Channi Himmat area here.
A police spokesperson said the case was registered after a complaint was lodged by one Kirti Sharma of Sainik Colony, who reported that some unknown persons decamped with electrical wires from her property.
Accordingly, FIR number 67/2026 under the relevant sections of the BNS was registered at Police Station Channi Himmat and further investigation was taken up.
During investigation, the police spokesperson said a special team led by incharge Police Post Sainik Colony under the guidance of SHO Channi Himmat and supervision of SDPO City East, Sachit Sharma, and SP City South, Dr Ajay Sharma, was constituted which examined the CCTV footage and gathered technical evidence.
The efforts led to the identification and arrest of the accused, Ajay Chokidar alias Succha, originally from Madhya Pradesh and presently residing in Kunjwani, and Hari Kumar alias Billa alias Ashu, a resident of Samba, who is presently living in Gangyal area, he said.
The police spokesperson said that during questioning, the accused confessed to the crime, following which the stolen 12 bundles of the 4 mm electric wires and around 10 kilograms of copper wire were recovered.
“The stolen property, worth lakhs of rupees, has been seized,” the police spokesperson said, adding that further investigation has been set into motion to identify any other involvement in the case.
