DODA, Jan 17: The picturesque town of Bhaderwah witnessed a massive influx of tourists and enthusiastic participation from locals as the Winter Carnival 2026 kicked off with great fervour at Guldanda, showcasing the region’s winter charm, cultural richness, and tourism potential.
The Carnival is being organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, through the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, in collaboration with the District Administration Doda and the Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA). celebration aims to promote Bhaderwah as a premier winter tourism destination while providing a vibrant platform for local culture, art, and recreation.
The inaugural function was graced by DDC Chairman Doda, Dhananter Singh Kotwal, who attended as the chief guest. MLA Bhaderwah Dalip Singh Parihar, Deputy Director Tourism Pankaj Sassan and Deputy Director Publicity Savita Chouhan were present as guests of honour.
A host of senior officers and dignitaries also attended the event, including SSP Doda Sandeep Mehta, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah Sunil Kumar Bhutyal, Chief Executive Officer BDA Sanjeev Sharma, SP Bhaderwah Vinod Sharma, ARTO Doda Kapil Deol and Cultural Academy Doda representative Salauddin, along with other district and sub-district level officers from various departments.
The Winter Carnival features a blend of cultural performances, recreational activities, and local talent displays, drawing large crowds and generating enthusiasm among visitors and residents alike. The celebrations are set to continue tomorrow with a grand musical event at the New Bus Stand, Kotli, Bhaderwah, which is expected to witness even greater participation.
Organized under the aegis of the District Administration Doda and BDA, the Carnival reflects the collective efforts of all stakeholders to boost winter tourism and reinforce Bhaderwah’s growing stature as a major tourist destination in the region.
