JAMMU, Aug 16: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today said he will ensure reconstruction of houses damaged in flash flood at Chashoti in Kishtwar district on Thursday and directed senior officials for immediate relief and uninterrupted essential supplies to the affected people.
As many persons including pilgrims of Shri Machail Mata Ji shrine remained untraced with death toll in cloudburst tragedy standing at 60, Sinha today spoke to senior officials and took stock of rescue and relief operations at Chashoti in Kishtwar district.
In a post on X after speaking to the senior officials, the Lieutenant Governor said that he will ensure reconstruction of homes damaged in flash floods.

“Spoke to senior officials and took stock of rescue and relief operations at Chashoti, Kishtwar. I will ensure the reconstruction of homes damaged in flash floods. I have also directed the senior officials for immediate relief and uninterrupted essential supplies to the affected,’’ the Lieutenant Governor said on X.

Meanwhile, Sinha hoisted and saluted the national flag at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar on Friday on the occasion of 79th Independence Day.
He said it is our duty to wipe out every single terrorist from our sacred Motherland.
“While armed forces, paramilitary forces and J&K Police are working with commitment to crush terrorism, the patriotic fervour and society’s collective efforts will definitely make Jammu Kashmir terror-free, he added.
Paying tribute to freedom fighters and bravehearts of Police, Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Sinha also offered homage to the citizens who lost their lives due to tragic cloudburst in Chashoti in Kishtwar district.
“My heart goes out to the families affected by cloudburst in Chashoti, Kishtwar. I am devastated by this natural calamity and express my condolences to the bereaved families. Relief operations are underway on war footing,’’ he said.
Sinha said we must work with one single aim, with one single purpose to make Jammu Kashmir strong and self-reliant in every sector. “We must dedicate ourselves to attain the goal of equality and prosperity for all,’’ he added.
Calling for taking a pledge that no individual or village is left out of historic journey of peace and progress, the Lieutenant Governor said: “As we watch tricolour flying high, let us look ahead with pride, confidence and hope towards better and brighter future for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir’’.
In a series of posts on X after hoisting and saluting national flag at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar, the Lieutenant Governor said: “Hoisted our national flag at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar on the occasion of 79th Independence Day. I convey my heartiest greetings and good wishes to all. This is a day we salute our tricolor and feel pride in watching it fly high in the sky.
“I join every citizen in paying homage to our freedom fighters, whose undying love for Motherhood secured us our freedom. I pay tribute to civilian martyrs, who were brutally killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22’’.
Sinha called for taking pledge on the Independence Day that no individual or village is left out of this historic journey of peace and progress. “As we watch triclour flying high, let us look ahead with pride, confidence and hope towards a better and brighter future for the UT of Jammu and Kashmir,’’ he said.
