Wild Life Deptt rescues leopard from Birpur

SAMBA, Feb 10: A team of Wild Life Department today rescued a leopard, which was caught in a trap laid by some villagers last night, from village Birpur in Bari Brahmana and took him with them to a safe place.
According to police spokesperson, this morning a villager spotted a leopard caught into the trap and informed the village Sarpanch, Gautam Singh, who called upon the officials of Wild Life Department, which rescued the leopard from the trap and took him along with them to a safe place.
It is reported that leopard had earlier killed some cattle in the forest area of village and entered into the village last night in search of prey and get caught in the trap.
However, when contacted the Wild Life DFO Samba said that the Department found a leopard in an injured condition and they have rescued the beast. She said that the leopard has not suffered any damage and is in a healthy condition.
She denied that the leopard had attacked animals or made any damage in the area and added the wild animal will be released in the natural habitat by the Wild Life Department.
