POONCH, Jan 30: A barking deer was today rescued and taken into custody by the officials of Wild Life Department in Azamabad area of Tehsil Mandi in Poonch district.
Official sources said that locals saw the wild barking deer in injured condition in Azamabad area. They informed police and Wild Life Department officials. A police team reached the spot.
The wild barking deer was rescued with the help of locals and taken to Police Station, Mandi under the supervision of SHO Mandi, PSI Sham Lal. The officials of Wild Life department who were already informed, took the deer into their custody.
It was abour 1.5 to 2 years old.
Officials said that the wild animals are coming downwards because of recent heavy snowfall. This rescued deer is being taken to Poonch office. “After full checkup and treatment, if required, we will free the deer in our sanctuary tomorrow,” the officials said.
They urged public to inform if any wild animal come downwards in residential areas so that due procedure could be followed.
