SRINAGAR, July 17: A local court in Kulgam today convicted two persons including the wife of the murdered person and her paramour in a 2013 murder case.
The judgment was delivered by the Sessions Court, Kulgam, following a protracted trial and detailed examination of evidence presented by the prosecution.
According to Chief Prosecuting Officer Ajaz Ahmed Najar, the Court of Kulgam has convicted the two main accused-Ali Mohammad Dar) and Muzamili, wife of the deceased,-for their roles in the premeditated and conspiratorial murder of Abdul Rashid Dar, resident of Mattargam, Kulgam.
Najar said the case originated from a gruesome act of betrayal and homicide that shocked the conscience of the community and brought to light the dark underbelly of human deceit.
In 2013, Dar was found murdered under mysterious circumstances, triggering an investigation that later uncovered a chilling conspiracy.
He said during the investigation it came to light that Ali Mohammad Dar had developed an illicit and adulterous relationship with Muzamili, who at the time was married to the deceased.
“Their clandestine relationship not only violated moral and social norms but ultimately led them to hatch a deliberate and calculated plan to eliminate Dar,” he said.
The investigation, supervised by senior officers, was described as exemplary and scientific. Najar said the crime was not spontaneous but the result of deep-rooted conspiracy, criminal intent, and shared motive.
Key pieces of evidence recovered during custodial interrogation included a glass, a scarf (chunni/dupatta), and a mobile phone containing critical digital proof of the unlawful relationship and conspiracy.
The trial was conducted before the Sessions Court, Kulgam, where the prosecution presented a legally robust and factually cohesive chargesheet, supported by witness testimonies, forensic analysis, and call detail records.
The court convicted both accused under Sections 302, 120-B, and 34 of the Ranbir Penal Code. “This case is a powerful reminder that justice may be delayed, but it cannot be denied,” Najar said, terming the conviction a landmark achievement and expressing gratitude to investigators and witnesses.
