JAMMU, June 17: More organizations have condemned the sacrilegious acts at Hindu temples of Roop Nagar and Nanak Nagar in Jammu and demanded stern action against the culprits trying to harm the age old brotherhood in Jammu region.
Condemning the sacrilegious acts which took place in historic Aap Shambhu temple at Roop Nagar, Devika Temple at Udhampur and Shiv temple at Nanak Nagar by some anti-social miscreants, JKNPP made a fervent appeal to all sects of the society to maintain peace and communal harmony at all costs.
Harshdev Singh Chairman JKNPP while speaking to the media condemned the profane acts of blasphemy and desecration at the revered temples of Lord Shiva which had severely hurt the sentiments of the people of Jammu Pradesh to stage massive protests. He lambasted the BJP-PDP Government for providing comfort zone to the separatists which had further emboldened the mischievous elements to trigger communal tension.
The JKNPP workers later led by Harshdev Singh took out a procession from Main Stop Gandhi Nagar and passed through Hospital Road, Auqaf Complex and culminated at Gole Market Gandhi Nagar.
The activits of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena led by Ashok Gupta took out a procession in the city today to express their resentment over the sacrilegious acts of two Hindu temples in Jammu by anti social elements. Addressing the protesters Ashok Gupta said that such acts will not be tolerated and it shows that Pakistan was directly involved in fomenting trouble in the State in general and Jammu region in particular.
Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) and All J&K Sikh Intellectual Circle while condemning the sacrilegious act said Nanak Nagar was established about five decades ago in the name of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikh faith and an apostle of Peace and Universal brotherhood. Hence a turbaned man reportedly to have shown gross disrespect before a Hindu deity in a temple in the Nanak Nagar vicinity is disgusting, unfortunate and therefore feels it as its sacred duty to sincerely condemn such insane acts . It said the D.M. has taken swift cognizance of such unbecoming act, thereby diffusing the communal flare-up, is appreciable. Strangely enough, two cases of sacrilege of Hindu places of worship in Jammu town in as many as three days, taken place, must raise the eye brows of every sane soul and unearthing of any likely conspiracy on the part of communal forces for electoral benefits, is only desirable.
RTI Activist Balvinder Singh while condemning the sacrilegious act in temple at Nanak Nagar said entire Sikh community stands firm with the Hindu brothers and no such act will be tolerated aimed at creating hatred among the people. He also strongly condemned the Roop Nagar temple incident and demanded stern action against culprits.
Balvinder Singh urged all the sections of the society to show restrain and maintain peace and communal harmony at all cost. “People of Jammu and particularly of Nanak Nagar area have always set an example of brotherhood & communal harmony since long”, said Mr Singh in handout issued here today.
Sunil Dimple president Jammu West Assembly Movement led a strong protest march against the repeated sacrilegious acts in Jammu. People of all the communities joined the protest rally, on the Amphalla, Sarwal, Rehari, New Plot Janipur High Court road against the failure of the Government terming the Aap Shambhu and the Nanak Nagar Shiv temple attacks as a conspiracy of the miscreants. The protest march was against the growing intolerance in the State.
Addressing the protest Sunil Dimple demanded reshuffle in the administration and imposition of Governor’s rule in the State.
Nirbhao Nirvair Organisation in its meeting held here today under the chairmanship of its president S Harjeet Singh while strongly condemning the sacrilegious acts of Roop Nagar and Shiv temple Nanak Nagar termed it a handi work of some miscreants who are hell bent to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Jammu for their nefarious designs.
Senior Congress leader and member civil Society Kishtwar, Shamsher Singh Bhandari has also strongly condemned the sacrilegious acts in Hindu temples and termed it the handiwork of divisive forces who are hell bent to disturb peace in the region. Bhandari while appealing people to maintain peace and unity asked them to defeat the designs of such elements.
International Sikh Awareness Front (INSAF) in a meeting under the chairmanship of S Harpal Singh Pali has also strongly condemned the sacrilegious acts in strongest terms. It however has appealed the people to maintain peace and amity at all costs.
All Parties Hindu Coordination Committee (APHCC) has held PDP -BJP coalition responsible for the sacrilegious acts at two Hindu temples in Jammu.
Spokesperson of the organization and president Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan, president Kranti Dal, Pritam Sharma and State president Shiv Sena Hindustan, Rajesh Kesari in a joint statement said that if such acts continue it will pose a serious threat to pose and authorities should act firmly and take stern action under rules against the culprits.
Incharge Youth Wing of Dogra Sadar Sabha Gambir Singh Charak has also strongly condemned the sacrilegious acts.
In a statement issued here today he said continuous sacrilegious acts at religious places is part of a big conspiracy which needs to be unmasked so that nefarious designs of such elements are thwarted once for all.
PDP Youth leader Girish Sharma has also strongly condemned the sacrilegious acts and appealed the people from alls sections of the society to maintain peace and calm at all costs.
