JAMMU, Nov 7: West Pakistan refugees held protest demonstration against the resolution passed by the J&K National Conference for special status to J&K, here today.
Led by Labba Ram Gandhi, president of West Pakistan Refugee Action Committee-1947, general secretary Jagdish Singh Manhas and others, the refugees were carrying national flags in their hands and arrived at Maharaja Hari Singh Park at around 11 am. They were shouting slogans against the National Conference for the passage of resolution for special status and Art 370 in the J&K Legislative Assembly in Srinagar.
The speakers during their address at the venue said that they were never in support of Article 370 but want early restoration of statehood to the Jammu and Kashmir, secure jobs and lands of the locals of the Jammu and Kashmir.
Labba Ram Gandhi said that they strongly oppose the move of the National Conference with regard to passage of resolution on special status to J&K. He lauded the efforts and the role of BJP in the Assembly.
Gandhi said that like Himachal Pradesh and several other states, Art 371 be introduced in the Jammu and Kashmir. He said the youths of J&K are suffering badly due to unemployment. The jobs for the local educated youth be secured and moreover, the lands of the local people should also be protected.
Tehsil president of the refugee organization for Khour Shamsher Singh, Tehsil president Bishnah Mohan Lal and tehsil president R S Pura also spoke on the occasion.
