JAMMU, Aug 17: The Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust today organised the weekly Sanskrit Patshala, “Gyan-Yagya Pathshala,” at Shree Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir, BC Road Jammu.
The programme was presided over by Trust President Pawan Kumar Shastri, with retired High Court Judge Brij Lal Bhat as the Chief Guest.
The Pathshala, launched by the Trust to promote Sanatan Dharma among the younger generation, has been receiving an encouraging response.
In its sixth session, about sixty students, mostly below the age of fifteen, took part. They were guided in reciting Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, Hanuman Chalisa, Sunderkand, and Dharma-Karma teachings.
Students impressed the audience by not only chanting Sanskrit verses but also translating them into Hindi and English, displaying devotion and confidence. Their ability to understand and explain the essence of scriptures was widely appreciated.
Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Pawan Kumar Shastri said that introducing such teachings at a young age connects children to their roots and helps them carry forward the legacy of Sanatan Dharma.
He added that the Vedic Pathshala is designed to impart knowledge of scriptures such as the Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, Vedas, and Upanishads, thereby nurturing cultural identity and spiritual growth.
Shastri also underlined the Trust’s long-standing philanthropic activities. In Haridwar, the Jammu Yatri Bhawan offers accommodation to pilgrims in 150 AC rooms and has been serving free langer to 600-700 devotees daily since 1995.
Similarly, in Jammu, the Panchmukhi Sankat Mochan Shree Hanuman Mandir complex has become a spiritual hub, with free langer served thrice daily to hundreds of devotees and regular puja-archana performed at the temple.
The event also saw participation of Sanskrit scholars Dr Arun Shastri and Dr Ajay Shastri, along with Trust office bearers Gurdas Sharma, Sukhdev Sharma, and Rashpal Sharma.
