Webinar on ‘Development & Corruption in J&K’ held

JAMMU, Dec 20: Jammu Kashmir Unity Foundation (JKUF) today organized a webinar on the topic ‘Development & Corruption in UT of J&K’ in which panelists said that corruption is the burning problem in J&K while development remains a neglected sector. The panelists stressed upon the LG administration in J&K and Government of India to accelerate developmental activities on one hand and give severe punishment to the corrupt on the other hand.
The panelists included Javed Iqbal Shah, Political Commentator; Nishikant Khajuria, Senior Journalist; S. Kanwal Singh, Columnist; Dr. Sahil Dutta, Youth Activist and Rajan Gandhi, Columnist while Ajaat Jamwal, president JKUF moderated the discussion.
The panelists felt that no visible change is there on ground regarding the developmental in J&K and neither the corrupt have been taken to task.
They said that a false impression is being generated in Jammu that there has been a great developmental push in Kashmir region and vice versa.
While Jambu Zoo, river front project, four lanning of Jammu-Akhnoor road, Artificial Lake project, Jammu Gondola project, Jammu-Srinagar Highway project, Janipur-Ambphalla road projects and numerous other projects are in limbo and no headway has been made in Kashmir on various development projects of utmost importance.
The panelists expressed hope in the administrative skills of the LG Manoj Sinha and hoped that he would deliver against both a non-performing administration and corrupt bureaucrats in J&K and would transform the UT into a progressive one.
