LUCKNOW, July 30: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a meeting with public representatives of the Lucknow division today, reviewing 3,397 development proposals worth 42,891 crores.
He stressed that ground-level inputs from 42 MLAs and 5 MLCs across six districts of the division are vital for shaping government priorities and ensuring effective implementation of projects. He described the dialogue mechanism as a vital bridge of trust between the government and the people.
During the meeting, 42 MLAs and 5 MLCs from various assembly constituencies across Lucknow, Hardoi, Rae Bareli, Unnao, Sitapur, and Lakhimpur Kheri districts presented their inputs on newly proposed projects, infrastructure requirements, and public expectations from their respective regions.
Highlighting the unique historical, cultural, and social attributes of each district in the division, the Chief Minister said every region has its own identity that must be preserved and promoted through coordinated development efforts. He described Lucknow as not only a hub of modernity, but also the cultural capital of Awadh, a vibrant symbol of art, literature, and tradition. “Like Kashi, Lucknow’s soul is eternal and its spirit universally resonant”, he stated. He further noted Hardoi’s deep-rooted legacy of truth and penance, and Rae Bareli’s rich contributions to literature, the freedom movement, and folk art.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the rich historical, cultural, and spiritual legacy of the districts in the Lucknow division, underscoring their significance in shaping development initiatives. He noted that Unnao district served as the karmabhoomi of Chandrashekhar Azad and other stalwarts of the freedom struggle. Development projects in the district, he said, should be envisioned in an integrated manner, drawing inspiration from this historical consciousness.
Referring to Sitapur, the Chief Minister said its religious and spiritual stature is unparalleled, with Naimisharanya as its spiritual heart, where sages once transmitted the Vedic wisdom to the world. He further emphasized Lakhimpur Kheri’s prominence on the global wildlife map due to Dudhwa National Park, praising its biodiversity, the agricultural richness of the Terai region, and the vibrant Tharu culture.
The Chief Minister said the unique identity of each district enhances its importance, and this must be reflected in their development. He stressed the need for regular reviews of projects at both the district and assembly constituency levels. He added, “Timely execution, a clear action plan, continuous dialogue, and regular feedback are essential for ensuring quality and punctual completion of projects.”
Reassuring public representatives, he affirmed that the state government remains fully sensitive to all matters of public interest and committed to acting promptly on their suggestions and demands. “Every public representative is a carrier of public aspirations,” he remarked, adding that their input will be acted upon on a priority basis.
He directed the Public Works Department(PWD) to act swiftly on proposals concerning roads, long and short bridges, ROBs/RUBs, charitable roads, and flyovers, as prioritized by public representatives. He emphasized completing all road projects- four-laning of district headquarters, two-laning of block headquarters, sugar mill roads, single-connectivity roads, and black spot rectification-within set timelines.
Special priority, he said, should be given to constructing roads in villages associated with public representatives and martyrs. The CM stressed that development works should continue uninterrupted in all constituencies to eliminate any scope for pick and choose.
The Chief Minister also reviewed progress under the Chief Minister Tourism Promotion Scheme, through which more than 1,000 religious sites across the state have been beautified and equipped with tourist facilities. He instructed the Tourism Department to identify at least one tourist site in every assembly constituency and prepare a development plan accordingly.
Addressing the Urban Development Department, CM Yogi firmly stated that before finalizing any project proposal, officials must consult and seek the guidance of the respective public representative. This, he said, ensures that projects align with local needs and yield maximum benefit.
He directed officials to ensure timely, transparent, and coordinated action on all points raised by public representatives. Bhoomi Pujan and foundation stone ceremonies for new schemes should be organized after September 15, with public representatives leading the ceremonies and their names inscribed on the plaques. The Chief Minister warned against any unnecessary delays or laxity in project execution, stressing that quality and fair monitoring are top priorities for the government.
