WDC to organise skill development course for women

POONCH, Apr 9:  The Jammu and Kashmir State Women’s Development Corporation (WDC) is soon going to organize 6-month course for skill development of local women in Mendhar.
“A training programme of 6 months duration will be conducted for skill development of local women,”  Managing Director WDC, Dr Naheed Soz announced at an awareness camp held in Government Degree College campus Mendhar.
The camp was held to make local women aware about the schemes offered by the Corporation, besides highlighting the    importance of ‘Beti  Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign.
During the camp the participants were also made aware about   Disaster Management and Protection measures to face the challenges of natural or manmade calamities.
Around 700 women attended the camp and were on spot provided loan application forms.
Dr Naheed Soz highlighted various activities being undertaken by WDC for the empowerment of women. She emphasized the need for development and welfare of women to achieve economic progress in the State.
Vijay Tikoo also highlighted the schemes being implemented by the Corporation and requested the participating women   to come forward and avail the benefits of the schemes of the Corporation, especially provided for girl students to avail education loan at a very simple 3% rate of interest per annum.
Nasreen Gul, District Manager, Poonch also threw light on the schemes presently under operation.
The camp was attended by Dr. Parvez Ahmad, BMO Mendhar Poonch, Professor Syed Shabir Hussain, Principal of the college, Dr. Firdous, HoD Arabic, Dr Mohammad Akram Secretary DIET/HoD Education Department.
