UDHAMPUR, Apr 8: Demanding immediate withdrawal of recent GAD circular on disengagement of daily rated workers and highlighting other demands, a large number of PHE workers took out a massive rally at Chenani, here today.
The rally was taken out under the banner of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association and led by Som Nath, district president INTUC and vice president of Jammu provincial body of the PHE Employees Association.
These employees were demanding immediate withdrawal of GAD circular on disengagement of daily rated workers, release of their pending wages of over one year, holding of DPC to fill up vacant posts, engaging more staff for new water supply schemes, benefit of SRO 64, conversion of CP Workers as daily wagers, etc.
A large number of employees, drawn from Kud, Patnitop, Ghordi, Barmeen, Chenani, Latti, Johnu, Barta, Sudhmahadev, Bashat and other far flung areas of the tehsil participated in the rally, which took off from PHE Sub-Divisional Complex Chenani and passed through main streets before culmination at the Bus Stand.
While addressing the rally, Som Nath appealed the State Government to fulfill genuine demands of PHE employees. He also urged the employees to remain united.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included Vijay Kumar, Suraj Parkash, Jagdish Magotra, Krishan Chand, Amardev Singh, Darbar Singh, Govind Ram, Rajinder Sharma, Dara Singh, Ganesh Chand, Sandhokh Singh, Prabhu Lal, Mohd Maqsood and Barkat Ali.
