SRINAGAR, Mar 29: Aiming to enhance financial stability and address long-standing wage disparities, the J&K Waqf Board today announced a salary increase for its employees.
Chairperson Dr. Darakshan Andrabi in this regard outlined the revised pay structure, benefiting employees across different categories.
Skilled workers will now receive Rs 18,000 per month, semi-skilled employees Rs 16,000 and unskilled workers Rs 15,000, she said.
Regular employees at the shrine space and central office, she said, will see a 20% hike in their basic pay. “Pensioners and family pensioners will also receive a 20% increase.”
The teaching faculty will get a 15% raise, while Imam-o-Khadeeb, Naib-e-Imam, and Mauzins have been granted a 20% hike.
Additionally, administrators in various Dargahs will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 2,000.
Calling it a “historic decision,” Dr. Andrabi highlighted that Waqf employees had been underpaid for two decades, with some earning as little as Rs 4,000-5,000 per month.
She expressed hope that the salary revision would help employees celebrate Eid with dignity, invest in their children’s education, and improve their standard of living.
