Speaking to reporters here, she said that the bill has already received the President’s assent and is now being implemented across the country, including Jammu and Kashmir. “It has passed, and the president’s stamp has been applied to it. In the whole of India, it has been implemented. Now, there is no need to talk much about it,” she said.
On being asked about the role of BJP in managing Waqf schools and institutions, she clarified that Waqf-run schools are only on Waqf land and not elsewhere.
The chairperson said earlier there were doubts about the functioning of the J&K Waqf Board, but now it has become a model for the rest of the country. “You saw that when our name was mentioned in the Parliament, it became the best example in India. Similarly, now all the Waqf Boards will work,” she said.
She accused previous politicians of treating Waqf properties as their personal assets. “Now, only those who are guilty will make noise,” she added.
She said that there is no threat to the functioning of Waqf institutions after the amendment. “We have been working for the last three years, and that work has been praised across India,” she said.
Backing the amendments, she said, “Whatever has happened in the Modi era is excellent. Amendments are always necessary.”
She also dismissed the opposition’s criticism, saying their job is only to create noise, which does not affect the implementation of the law.
