However, while returning to Jammu with the accused, the situation took a violent turn. The accused reportedly insisted on stopping the vehicle for a natural call. Upon being allowed out, they allegedly attacked the police personnel, attempting to snatch their weapons and escape.
The alert police party acted swiftly to control the situation, but during the scuffle, Mushtaq Ali reportedly fell on the road and sustained grievous injuries. He was immediately rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Jammu, where doctors declared him dead. Four police personnel also sustained minor injuries during the altercation.
Following the incident, a case FIR Number 33/2025 was registered at Police Station Bishnah under relevant sections of law. Legal formalities have been initiated, and further investigation is underway.
On the orders of District Magistrate Jammu, a board of doctors was constituted which conducted the postmortem of the deceased and handed over the body to his legal heirs for last rites.
