REASI, July 5: After a major strike on absconders, Reasi police continuing its drive against absconders who are evading arrests since years, arrested yet another absconder, evading arrests since 2019.
Accused Mohd Ashiq, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Channa, Tehsil Chassana in district Reasi was absconding in Case FIR No. 28/2014 U/S 420/467/468/RPC of Police Station Chassana.
Case was proved during investigation and challaned in the court of law. To avoid conviction accused jumped trial proceedings by going underground & couldn’t be apprehended since 2019. Accused dodged the police by disguising his appearance.
A ‘general warrent of arrest’ under section 512 CrPC was issued by the court of Session Judge Reasi, against the accused in December 2019.
Police Station Reasi traced the accused and arrested him from Sungri area of Chassana. Accused Ashiq is a habitual offender and also remained involved in four other case FIR no 06/2020 U/S 353,323,34 of Police Station Chassana, FIR no 77/2017 U/S 420,467,468,34 RPC Police station Mahore, FIR no 47/2017 U/S 420,201 RPC of Police Station Reasi and FIR no 2/2019 U/S 420, 465,468,472,120-B RPC Crime Branch Jammu.
Reasi police remained successful in nabbing the criminals who are evading their arrests since years and against whom arrest warrants, issued by Courts were pending. This is the arrest of 41st absconder by Reasi Police since April 2021, a police official said.
