VRS employees stage protest demanding pending dues

JAMMU, Oct 29: All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association staged a protest demonstration this morning in front of Press Club, against State Government and SRTC Department for not clearing their pending dues.
Leading the protest, president, VRS Union, Dev Raj Bali and general secretary, Surinder Singh, criticized the attitude of Coalition Government in the State for not releasing the legitimate dues of VRS employees.
They said for last five years we have been ensured by the Ministers to whom we approached regarding our issues that in the next cabinet meeting our case would be decided. But we are unable to understand when their next cabinet meeting would be held, they added.
They said that VRS/GHS employees have been struggling for last five years for their dues which included 16 pending installments of COLA 2006, 18 installments of 2007, 26 installments of COLA 2008, 35 installments of COLA 2009, 31 installments of COLA upto 2010, pending arrears since 1999 and 6th Pay Commission arrears with effect from January 1, 2006.
“In 5-years struggle for our dues, 11 VRS/GHS employees breathed their last as they could not afford expenses on the treatment of diseases they were suffering from” the VRS leaders alleged.
