JAMMU, Jan 27: Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj, which has been organizing for the past few years the holy Mata Kheer Bhawani pilgrimage and other yatras to Hindu shrines in the valley, has now arranged pilgrimage for J&K people to the highly revered Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
Five buses, carrying people, would leave Jammu for Prayagraj tomorrow. The pilgrims would be first taken to Ayodhya for darshan of Ram Lalla, then to Kashi Vishwanath and finally to Prayagraj for a dip at the Sangam on Maha Kumbh eve. The buses would return Jammu on February 3.
A VKS executive body meeting, which was attended by Pintooji Pandita, Kamal Ganjoo, R K Tickoo and Ashok Sumbli, called upon the people of J&K to visit Prayagraj for the holy dip. They gave the credit of this pilgrimage to VKS convenor Kiran Wattal, who along with other VKS members, visited Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath and Maha Kumbh in advance to oversee the arrangements done for the visiting J&K pilgrims.
Wattal said the Maha Kumbh pilgrimage for those travelling in the five buses was totally managed by VKS from its own resources, with no cost from devotees. “All the arrangements from lodging to meals have been made for them,” he said.
He informed that the management of Ram Mandir, Purani Mandi, had set up a huge ‘shivir’ (bhandara) at Prayagraj. At the shivir, they met Mahant Rameshwar Das, who while speaking to them, called upon the people of J&K to visit Prayagraj for the holy dip at Sangam, saying: “Maha Kumbh is a rare event that happens once every 144 years.”
