JAMMU, Mar 7: Viraj Kala Kendra (VKK), Jammu, in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, here today, staged a street play ‘Amrit Nahi Hai, Vish Hai Yeh’.
The play highlighted harms of narcotics that are destroying the youth across the world both physically and mentally.
The play revolves around Bannu, who came to the city for further studies but was trapped in the network of drug suppliers, who forced him to steal money to purchase drugs.
A stage came when Bannu even started beating his parents for not giving him money. Due to excessive drug consumption, he was eventually reduced to a skeleton and his parents admitted him to a de-addiction centre but it proved to be of no use and eventually Bannu died.
The money saved for his marriage was spent on his treatment. Initially, his parents compelled the doctor to mention the cause of death as heart attack but later on his father insisted that the doctor should write the actual cause of death truthfully.
The play was written and directed by Rajneesh Kumar Gupta. Artists who performed in the play were Meera Tapasvi, Rishab Manhas, Tarun Charak, Sachin, Mannat Bhau, Arun Sharma, Amanjit Verma, Yuvraj Gupta and John Peter.
Pushpa Bharti, VKK member delivered vote of thanks.
