JAMMU, Dec 1: Viraj Kala Kendra, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in connection with week-long celebrations of Birth Anniversary of Late Vidya Ratan Khajuria, an eminent sculptor, artist and a writer of J&K State, organized ‘On  the Spot Painting Competition’ today at Shiksha Niketan Hr Secondary School, Jeewan Nagar, here.
About 300 children of different branches of the school participated in this competition.
R C Puri, Secretary, Red Cross Society, Jammu Division was the chief guest on this occasion, while Mr Mengi, Head of Shiksha Niketan Institutions was the guest of honour.
The function started with the welcome of the guests by Raj Bharti, president, Viraj Kala Kendra, Jammu. In her address she highlighted the activities and contribution of the Kendra. She said that Viraj Kala Kendra is working for the promotion of Art & Culture for last many years, adding that the Kendra is catering free facility to artists to display their art at Viraj Art Gallery.
Speaking on this occasion, R C Puri appreciated the talent shown by the children. He said that innovation is the basic property behind making us different from others. Mr Mengi thanked the organizers for choosing his institutions for the conduct of these competitions in the memory of Late V R Khajuria.
1st, 2nd, 3rd and consolation prizes were given to the position holders which included the winners- Nursery Wing: Ist- Madiha Kohli, 2nd- Sohan Akhtar, 3rd- Aditya and Consolation- Harish. The winners of senior wing included: 1st- Rafia Malk, 2nd- Mannat Gupta, 3rd- Manish and Consolation- Isha Gupta. The jury members included well known artists of Jammu namely Bhushan Kesar, Jang S. Verman, Vikas Khajuria and Suresh Sharma.
