Vishwakarma Day celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety across Jammu province

JAMMU, Nov 12: Vishwakarma Day also known as Vishwakarma Jayanti or Vishwakarma Puja was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across Jammu Province.
Vishwakarma Day was celebrated by Vishwakarma Jyanti Utsav Samiti at Vishwakarma Temple, Adarsh Colony, district Udhampur under the chairmanship of its president Radhay Shyam Manhas. Large numbers of people were present in the function. For peace and development of the mankind, hawan of Lord Vishwakarma was performed. RC Mannotra (retd SSP) hoisted the flag of Lord Vishwakarma. Minister of State for Finance and Information Technology, Pawan Kumar Gupta was chief guest on the occasion and while speaking he said that it is customary for craftsmen to worship their tools in Lord Vishwakarma’s name, for progress and prosperity. Gupta said that Lord Vishwakarma, the deity of all craftsmen and architects is believed to be the architect and the master of all machinery and equipments being used in the day to day works. Later, the Minister flagged-off the Shobha Yatra which started from Temple premises and after passing through various areas, culminated at the starting point. He also participated in the yatra.
On the occasion of Vishawakarma Day, an impressive program was organized jointly by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Vishwakarma Union, Rehari Colony. State Vice President BJP and MLA Sat Sharma was the chief guest and Joint Commissioner (Adm.) RS Jamwal was the guest of honour. The program started with the inauguration of JMC’s Ward Office at Rehari Colony area which was followed by cleanliness drive Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan in Rehari Colony, followed by a cultural programme organized by Vishwakarma Union.
Addressing the gathering, Sat Sharma threw light on the life and teachings of Lord Vishwakarma. MLA announced that Municipal Land at Sarwal will be used for the construction of the office for Vishwakarma Union and any amount needed for its construction will be issued through his (CDF) scheme, if needed. MLA also attended programmes on the occasion of Vishwakarma Day at Vishwakarma Sabha, Bakshi Nagar and Bhagwati Nagar as the chief guest.
Executive Engineer Parvodh Sharma, AEE Joginder Saraf, JE SK Bhat, Sanitation Officer Dr Zaffer Iqbal, Sanjay Khanna, Arun Chibber, Veenu Khanna, besides many others were also present on the occasion.
To commemorate Vishwakarma Day, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) presented musical play “Vishwakarma” in collaboration with Unison Cultural Troupe and Sangam Tru Art Production. The Play was written and directed by ML Dogra. The programme was inaugurated by VK Magotra, Former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India in presence of Tara Singh Charak, Former Deputy Director, Health Department and Romesh Chander, Event Director. Usha Handoo, Raju Bajgal, MC Kotwal, Hem Raj, Rajni Gupta, Rakshit Sharma,  Dhruv Pandit, Aadhishwar Rajput, Bhuvan Pandit, Shaan Khan, Saksham Magotra, Arnav Chib, Devam jandyal, Maitreyi Salaia, Renu Saproo, Vandana Gupta, Rajat  Dogra enthralled the audience with their performance.
The State Unit of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) celebrated the Vishwakarma Day at Satwari. On the occasion, State president of INTUC Shiv Kumar Sharma, Raghubir Singh, general secretary, Amrik Singh, Joginder Paul, Ganesh Dutt, Sham Prashad, Kuldeep Raj, Vinod Kumar, Ashok Kumar and many other INTUC workers from private as well as public sectors performed pooja of Lord Vishwakarma. While speaking, Shiv Kumar Sharma threw light on the life and teachings of Lord Vishwakarma. He appealed to the Government to redress the issues of the working class including regularization of daily wagers, redressal of demands of ReTs, ReZs, ReSs and release of 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
The Water Works (PHE) Employees Association celebrated Vishwakarma Day with an impressive pooja function held under the leadership of its provincial president Shiv Kumar Sharma at Kunjwani workshop of PHE Ground Water and Drilling Division Jammu. SE FA Choudhary, Executive Engineers, AEEs, AEs, JEs, ministerial staff, field staff of the PHE Department performed pooja and havan. While speaking, Sunil Kumar Sharma demanded regularization of daily wagers, CP Workers, enhancement of minimum wages limit to Rs 350 per day, release of pending wages, DPC meet of all cadre and provide tools, kits and uniforms to the field staff.
Vishwakarma Day was also celebrated in Kathua by working class, particularly those dealing with mechanical works and their bodies. Besides paying obeisance to Lord Vishwakarma, the mythical God of Engineering, workers at various places performed hawan and pooja of mechanical tools. Remembering Lord Vishwakarma BJP State General Secretary and MLA Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia paid tributes to the founder of craft, art, architecture and engineering, who is also known as the God of carpenters, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, and masons. On the occasion, a Shobha Yatra was also taken out in Kathua. The procession started from old bus stand Kathua and after passing through different areas culminated at the starting point.
Jay Kay Vishwakarma Labour Union celebrated Vishwakarma Day at Rehari Colony. PRO of Chief Minister MK Dhar was the chief guest on the occasion, whereas Dhaman Bhashin, senior PDP leader was the guest of honour. Besides them, Vinod Sharma and Vikas Bhatti, senior PDP leaders were also present. Vinay Raina, Convener of the Union highlighted the demands of the Union, to which PRO of Chief Minister assured early redressal. Among others present were Bharat Bhushan, Kuldeep Singh, Bua Ditta, Mohinder Singh, Charan Singh, etc.
