JAMMU, Nov 13: Vishwakarma Day was celebrated with religious fervor and enthusiasm across Jammu as people turned up in large numbers at Vishwakarma temples to have blessings of Lord Vishwakarma.
On the occasion, Hawan and Bhajan-Kirtan was held in the Vishwakarma Temple, New Plot under the supervision of Mohinder Lal (president of the Temple committee). A large number of people from all sections of society including women and children gathered in the Temple to get blessings of Lord Vishwakarma. Speaking on the occasion, Mohinder Lal said that Lord Vishwakarma is creator of this Universe. He reiterated the demand of a “Gazetted Holiday” on Vishwakarma Day as everyone including industrialists, mechanics, labour and artists, besides those associated with brick kilns, building material works, etc observe an undeclared holiday on Vishwakarma Day. A community lunch (langar) was also organized for the devotees on this occasion.
The Day was celebrated with great fervor at Vishwakarma Sabha, Bakshi Nagar. The proceedings of the celebration started with Hawan and Pooja of Lord Vishwakarma. Besides hundreds of devotees, a number of special guests including MP Jugal Kishore, ex-mayor of Jammu Chander Mohan Gupta, ex-minister Sat Sharma, ex-vice chairman OBC Rashpal Verma, ex-vice chairman (OBC) Kuldeep Raj Verma, Corporator Gourav Chopra, Corporator Surinder Singh, Manmohan Singh (president, Traders Federation, Shakti Nagar, Jammu), Shashi Verma (president, Pradesh Vishwakarma Sabha), Jorawar Singh Jamwal (Team Jammu chairman) paid obeisance to Lord Vishwakarma.
All the guests spread light on the life of Lord Vishwakarma and assured the community that they will continue their efforts to support the Vishwakarma community for genuine causes.
In Vishwakarma Temple, Akhnoor Road, (Mishriwala, Jammu), an impressive programme was organized under the supervision of Rashpal Singh Verma (president) and Mangal Dass Verma (chairman) in which ex-ministers Sham Lal Sharma and Ajay Sadotra, DDC Chairman Jammu Bharat Bhushan Bodhi participated. A large number of people from all sections of society gathered in the Temple to have blessings of Lord Vishwakarma.
Hawan and Satsang were held in the morning followed by a cultural show and speeches. Children sang Vishwakarma Bhajans. Notebooks and Calendars of Lord Vishwakarma were distributed by Shree Vishwakarma Library, to the participating children. The temple was specially decorated on the eve of Vishwakarma Day.
To celebrate the Vishwakarma Day, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan today presented its 388th musical play series “Vishwakarma” in collaboration with Sangam Tru Art production at Durga Bhawan, Janipur (Jammu). The programme was commenced with the Sanskrit shlok “Om Adhar Shaptey Namho Aur Om Kumeyo Namho Om Ananatam Namho Om Prithviye Namho” and songs “Vishwakarma Teri Jai Ho”, “Ayo Ayo Sab Jawano Majzoor Kasbi Te Kasano”, “Mahare Thadre Loke De Khuliye Nasib Ji Thona Rozgar Sabe Nai Hona Koi Garib Ji”.
The programme concluded with the Vishwakarma Arti “Hum Sab Uttare Teri Arti Vishwakarma Ji’. Earlier, M L Dogra (chairman, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan) threw light on Vishwakarma Day and Lord Vishwakarma– a Hindu god, the divine architect and one of the fourteen precious things born of the Sumudra Manthan.
In Udhampur, the day was celebrated with religious fervor at Vishwakarma Temple, MH Chowk. Celebrations started with Hawan-Yagya, followed by flag hoisting by president of Vishwakarma Sabha Udhampur, Radhey Shayam Manhas. Devotees paid obeisance to Lord Vishwakarma and sang bhajans in praise of the Lord. They also demanded gazette holiday on Vishwakarma Day.
Ex-MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia, ex-MLA Krishan Chander Bhagat, DDC Ghordi Rakesh Bodhi, Pardyot Gupta (Assistant Labour Commissioner, Udhampur) and Inspector Raguveer Singh (SHO Udhampur) participated in the celebrations.
