RAJOURI, Sept 21: The students assisted by locals of the area held strong protest demonstration in Majakote area and disrupted movement of traffic on Rajouri-Poonch highway today.
The students and villagers from Khaniyar Gali and adjoining areas, assembled at Kakora village in Manjakote on Jammu-Poonch highway during the day and raised barricades on the road. They started protest against R&B authorities for ignoring repair/ restoration work on Kakora-Khaniyar Gali road. The villagers alleged that for the last several years, the R&B authorities have abandoned the repair and restoration work on this link road and the villagers and especially the students are badly suffering. The vehicles do not go there and the locals have to move on foot.
They pointed out that despite representations to the MLAs/ ministers/DCs and even R&B officers at Rajouri in last 5-6 years no body bothered about public plight. The public has been left to suffer. Later, SHO Manjakote and Tehsildar reached the spot and they assured the agitating villagers to take up the issue with concerned SE R&B. The villagers then lifted dharna and allowed movement of traffic after one and half hour.
