UDHAMPUR, June 26: Villagers of Kulwanta today protested against worst condition of under construction PMGSY road to Bari Ladana in Ramnagar tehsil.
The protest was held under the leadership of Khem Raj Sarpanch, Ranjeet Singh, Balbir Singh, Hans Raj, Vijay Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Rajinder Singh and others. They raised slogans against the PMGSY Department and appealed the Lt Governor Girish Chandera Murmu for his personal intervention to ensure completion of this road under PMGSY, unit Ramnagar.
The villagers said that for the last two years, the contractor did not execute any work on this road despite repeated pleas in this regard. “The entire village is dependent on this road and people suffer because it has not been completed by the contractor for the last more than two years,” they added.
This 14.5 km road from Kulwanta to Bari Ladana under PMGSY Package number JK14-206 was to be completed with an amount of Rs 789.79 lakh by March 2018 but even after the lapse of more than two years since its deadline, the road is incomplete.
“These days the condition of the road is so bad that we can’t even walk on it and it is risky to carry sick and old persons, pregnant women to Sub District Hospital Ramnagar and District Hospital Udhampur because of big potholes,” they said.
