Video conferencing session over NKN organized at JU

JAMMU, Feb 3: A Video Conferencing session from IIT Kharagpur with the institutes and universities connected on NKN was conducted today.
Prof. Partha Pratim Chakrabarti, Principal Investigator and Director, IIT Kharagpur and Prof. Partha Pratim Das, Joint Principal Investigator and Professor, Computer Science & Engineering, IIT Kharagpur conducted the video conferencing.
Prof. R. D. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu also attended the Video Conferencing Session.
The video-conferencing was conducted to address all institutes and universities connected on National Knowledge Network (NKN) to make them aware about the forthcoming launch of National Digital Library (NDL).
IIT Kharagpur has been entrusted by MHRD, under its NMEICT mission to host, coordinate and set-up a pilot project of National Digital Library (NDL) towards building a national asset. The project is led by Prof. Partha Pratim Chakrabarti, and Prof. Partha Pratim Das.
MHRD plans to launch this pilot version of the National Digital Library (NDL) portal in steps and the first of this limited launch is scheduled in February, 2016 to the users of some selected centrally funded technical institutes, especially those who have contributed contents to NDL. Ultimately this will be launched to all institutes and to the entire nation.
Among others who attended the Video Conferencing session include Prof. Vibhakar Mansotra, Director IT, Prof. Vivek Gupta, I/C Librarian and Heads of Various Teaching Departments and various other personnel connected with the functioning Centre for IT and Central Library.
