JAMMU, Apr 3: Victims of Terrorism have expressed grave concern over delaying tactics of the Government in prosecuting the terrorists responsible for massacres and selective killing of Kashmiri Pandits in Valley during turmoil period.
Talking to reporters here, today president of the organisation, Dilip Pandita termed it a criminal silence on part of Government which according to him was shielding the terror eco system.
While acknowledging the efforts to restore normalcy in Kashmir he however said that those responsible for 1990 genocide should be held accountable which has not been done so far. He also dismissed the recent initiatives including the constitution of State Investigation Agency (SIA) as ‘too little and too late’.
Pandita demanded handing over cases pertaining to killings of Kashmiri Pandits and Hindus in Kashmir Valley and Jammu region to National Investigation Agency (NIA) for time bound prosecution, besides investigation and prosecution of those holding ‘while collar’ posts and were responsible for mass exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Valley and reopen and investigate all FIRs of Kashmiri Pandits and all other Hindus killed since 1989.
Pandita said his son went missing from Chandigarh in 2019 and his body was recovered in Anantnag. Despite Home Ministry’s directives and SIT directions the bureaucracy has closed the case.
He highlighted discrepancies in official records, including missing names of victims. “I demand Suo moto orders for a fast track CBI/NIA investigation into murder of my son and an end to the terror eco system”, Pandita said.
He said the families of terrorism victims are waiting for justice for last 36 years with a ray of hope. “In the case of my son’s murder the accused has not been produced in the Court of Law due to his father’s political affiliation with the present regime. How can the victims expect justice so a CBI/NIA probe be ordered to bring the culprits to book, ‘?, he added.
