RAJOURI, Aug 20: Member Legislative Council Vibodh Gupta showed his grave concern over the scholarship row in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU). He said that the academic, research and secular standard of the University is at stake because of the scholarship scams that took place in the university and came into light few months ago. It is really shameful that a student’s scholarship scam of about 20 lacs happened and no action is taken against the persons involved.
Talking to reporters here today he also lambasted the higher authorities of the University for their failure in sorting out the issue as from the last few months some social and civil organizations as well as the students are protesting against the mismanagement and misdoings in the University. It is really surprising that all this is happening and the Vice Chancellor is sleeping. “Let me clear this fact that this is not simply a University for we people but this university is a symbol of faith and belief for the people of this region as it came into existence on the name of a holy saint and in no case we shall tolerate that such mal practices happens here”, he added.
He further said that no culprits shall be spared as the Government stands for proving a corruption free administration. He assured that in the days to come he will also meet the Chief Minister so that the defaulters be punished and justice be done.
Vibodh Gupta asked the district administration to investigate the matter with an unbiased way and arrest the persons who have their hands in demolishing the image of the University. He further asked the Vice Chancellor of the University besides taking action against the culprits of the scholarship scams fill the vacant positions in the university so that we can come across from the shortage of the staff.
However, he advised the students to go back to their classes so that their studies may not hamper. “I assure you (students) that justice will come and no one be spared”. He also asked the Special Investigation team to speed up the investigation and bind up the case by taking appropriate action against the culprits.
