JAMMU, May 1: VHP patron Dr Rama Kant Dubey today warned Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani not to make undue interference in the holy Amarnath pilgrimage and keep his hands off the issues pertaining to Hindu religion.
In a statement issued here Dr Dubey said it is none of the business of Geelani to interfare in religious matters of Hindus that when the holy Amarnath yatra should start and for how long time it should last.
He said only a Hindu Dharam Gurus or Shri Amarnath Shrine Board can decide on the yatra duration and no one else.
Dr Dubey while making a dig at Geelani said that with his outbursts the Hurriyat leader wants to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the State which he has been doing for past 26 years.
VHP leader said that when Hindus don’t interfere in Muslim pilgrimage why should a non Hindus interfere in holy Amarnath yatra. He said instead of making such a statement on yatra duration and trying to rake up a controversy to create disturbance in the State, Geelani should have asked Kashmiris to cooperate in smooth conduct of the yatra as it gives a big boost to economy of Valley.
Dr Dubey cautioned the Government that in 2008 PDP was also a part of the coalition when land row agitation took place and some vested interests in the State are hell bent to create such situation again which should not be allowed.
He said to maintain proper calm during the yatra period Geelani be arrested. He warned that such utterances on part of Geelani will have far reaching consequences.
