JAMMU, Aug 10: Vishav Hindu Parishad (VHP) celebrated its 48th Foundation Day at its headquarters at Shakti Ashram Rehari here today.
The function was chaired by VHP state chief Dr Rama Kant Dubey. The VHP activists of Jammu district attended the function.
The VHP activists on the occasion took a pledge to rededicate themselves for the service of nation, its unity and integrity and fight against forces inimical to the national interest.
Addressing the gathering Dr Dubey gave a brief of the circumstances that led to formation of VHP in 1964 on the day of Janamashtami. He said the main objective of forming the organization was to fight for the protection of Hindu Dharma.
Dr Dubey said that VHP has launched a crusade to protect the dharma, religious places of Hindus all over the globe and fight the forces who are working for the disintegration of the nation within and outside the country.
He urged the cadres to be ready to take on the forces who are posing a threat to the national integrity and unity and face all challenges boldly.
The function started with Janam Ashtami Pooja archana and among the prominent VHP leaders Dr Sham Gupta, Mrs Sushila Abrol and Dr V K Gupta were present.
VHP was founded on the day of Janamashtami in 1964 at Sandeepani Ashram Maharashtra.
