JAMMU, Mar 17: A grand get-together of veterans of 4 JAK LI was organised at Nud Akhnoor, drawing participation from a large number of ex-servicemen and Veer Naris from across Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, Basoli, RS Pura, Samba and Akhnoor.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of veterans along with their families, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and shared memories.
The function was organised by Sub Jagdev Singh, Sub Durga Dass, Sub Roshan Lal and Hav Sanjay Kumar, and all attendees were served community lunch, sweets and tea.
Chairman of Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association Akhnoor, S Lakhbir Singh Sohal, attended the function as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, he stressed the importance of unity among veterans to effectively raise and resolve their issues.
He highlighted key concerns faced by ex-servicemen, including pension-related matters, healthcare challenges and shortage of medicines in ECHS polyclinics.
He also urged veterans to become members of the association to strengthen collective efforts for welfare and representation at higher levels.
Several veterans, including Capt Des Raj, Rattan Lal, Sub Bachan Lal, Sub Sham Lal and Capt Ganesh Dutt, also spoke on the occasion and shared their experiences and memories from their service days, highlighting the spirit of sacrifice and dedication.
The event concluded with Sub Jagdev Singh presenting a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants who had gathered from different parts of the Union Territory.
