Vehicles of notorious drug peddler, bovine smuggler attached

UDHAMPUR, Nov 22: In two separate actions, Udhampur Police attached moveable properties of a notorious drug peddler and a bovine smuggler.
During the course of investigation in case FIR number 189/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Rehambal, it came to know that accused Mohd Yousaf Joo, son of Abdul Rashid Joo, resident of Wuyan, Pampore, District Pulwama, was in possession of a Toyota Innova vehicle bearing registration number JK01M-3679.
Based on material collected during the investigation, the Investigating Officer established that the said vehicle has been acquired from the proceeds of crime generated through narco trade. Accordingly, acting as per mandate of law, the property has been attached under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act for further legal action. The value of the said vehicle is Rs 22 lakhs.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police also attached a Tata Yodha vehicle bearing registration number JK14J-3924 owned by notorious bovine smuggler Gulam Qadar, son of Mazam Din of Jig Bupp, Chenani, Udhampur, which was found involved in case FIR No. 165/2025 U/S 223(a) BNS & 11 PCA Act of Police Station Ramnagar.
Based on the criminal record and financial investigation of the accused, it was revealed that the offending vehicle had been procured through illegally acquired proceeds of crime generated from bovine smuggling. Accordingly, Udhampur Police attached the said vehicle under Section 107(5) BNSS.
