AKHNOOR, Jan 6: The police seized a vehicle smuggling six bovine animals in Chowki Chora area of Akhnoor last night.
Official sources said that a police team from Chowki Chora foiled an attempt of bovines smuggling in a Mahindra Bolero vehicle No. JK11G-3514 which was going from Khour area towards Rajouri. The police had laid a Nakka and when it reached Naka Gulaaba Chappar, Chowki Chora, the driver of the vehicle took advantage of darkness and fled from the spot. Six bovines were rescued from the vehicle and the vehicle was seized.
In this connection an FIR has been registered under relevant laws at Police Station Akhnoor. Further investigation was underway.
