JAMMU, Jan 2: The Village Defence Guards (VDGs) opened firing after observing movement of suspected terrorists in Dessa area of Doda district this evening.
Reports said the VDGs spotted movement of three suspected terrorists outside the house of one of the VDG at village Dewal Kund in Dessa area of Doda district around 7 PM today.
After firing and alertness displayed by the VDGs, the suspects reportedly fled from the village and there was no fresh firing till the reports last came in after the initial round, the reports said.

Security forces were immediately alerted and the area has been put on high alert and cordoned off for searches.
Further details are awaited as search and cordon operations are being intensified.
No casualties have been reported in the firing.
