JAMMU, Nov 4: Former Deputy Chief Minister & MLA, Gandhi Nagar today visited Greater Kailash area in Ward 68 to access the developmental works being executed in the area. While addressing a well attended gathering organised by Anil Kumar Councillor, Gupta said Jammu and Kashmir is the crown of the country and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is serious in the overall development of the State and uplift every section of the society.
“Due to militancy we have suffered a lot and our State is far behind as compared to other states in terms of the development. Our State needed a special attention for which Prime Minister, Narendra Modi had given a special package to cope up with the hardships our State suffered due to militancy”.
On the recent killing of BJP senior leader and State secretary, Anil Parihar and his brother, Ajeet Parihar, Gupta said VDC groups needs to up-graded in whole Chenab Valley. He said this is well planned strategy of the pro Pakistan Hurriyat and its allies to restart terror activities in the Chenab Valley. The VDC’s functional in the area needs to strengthened otherwise there are chances that terrorists may resort to killing of Hindus living in the remote villages, he added.
Large number of VDC weapons have been withdrawn by vested administration in the Chenab Valley over a period of time, Gupta said. VDCs were sanctioned in the tenure of NDA-1 tenure and played a very crucial role in the control and elimination of the militancy from the region. He said there is need of conducting security review of leaders and families who have fought antinational forces in Chenab region in last 30 years.
He said the selective killing of Hindu leaders in the region can lead to migration and this incident is eye opener for the security forces and the Government. He also said that to check the rise of militancy activities in the region Army needs to be re-deployed in the area. Gupta said he along with other senior leaders visited Kishtwar and every person present there was asking for the safety of Hindus residing in the area.
Gupta said, he shall be discussing the issue with the Union Home Minister, Raj Nath Singh for the redressal of security issue and re-deployment of Army in Chenab Valley.
