Various political parties celebrate Independence Day

JAMMU Aug 16: Various political parties celebrated 79th Independence Day of the country with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on Friday across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
J&K National Conference celebrated the Independence Day with great enthusiasm and unity at the party headquarters Jammu.
On the occasion Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial president, hoisted the National Flag in presence of the large number of party functionaries.
Addressing the gathering Gupta greeted the people on this auspicious occasion and hoped that they will work for strengthening the bonds of amity and tranquility the hallmark of Jammu and Kashmir glorious pluralistic ethos. He stressed the need for preserving and promoting the secular ethos, saying unity in diversity is the biggest strength of the nation.
Gupta said National Conference is determined to work towards the principles of democracy, secularism, and socialism. These values form the guiding principles of the party’s vision for a more inclusive and equitable society, he said, adding that the Party is committed to protect the land and employment rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
NC leader threw light on the supreme sacrifices made by the freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev , Chander Shekhar Azad, Subash Chander Bose and many more for getting freedom from the clutches of the English Kingdom and for the betterment of the people and the country.
Prominent among those present include, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Babu Rampal, Nimla Luthra, Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, Dr Chaman Lal Bhagat, Ch. Rahim Daad, Pardeep Bali, Ayub Malik, Vijay Lochan, , Abdul Gani Teli, Tejinder Pal Singh Aman, Nar Singh, Vijay Luthra, Rakesh Singh, Vijay Laxmi Datta, Chander Mohan Sharma, Raghbir Singh Manhas, Dilshad Malik, Ashok Dogra, Rajni Devi and others.
Bharatiya Janata Party, Jammu & Kashmir unit hoisted the National Flag amidst Nationalist sloganeering, across the length and breadth of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Independence Day.
At the BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, party’s UT president Sat Sharma, general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul, and MLA Ch Vikram Randhawa hoisted the Tiranga. They were joined by BJP vice-presidents Rajiv Charak, Rakesh Mahajan, and Rekha Mahajan; general secretaries Baldev Singh Billawaria and Gopal Mahajan, Tilak Raj Gupta, Dr Pardeep Mahotra, Naresh Singh, Balbir Ram Rattan, Prof Kulbhushan Mohtra, Arun Prabhat, Neha Mahajan, Aseem Gupta, Vinay Mahajan, Ayodhya Gupta, Sham Langer, and other senior leaders and activists.
At Pt Prem Nath Dogra Bhawan, Kachi Chawni , MP (Rajya Sabha) Ghulam Ali Khatana and MLA Arvind Gupta hoisted the National Flag in the presence of party vice-president Priya Sethi, general secretary Sanjita Dogra, Rajesh Gupta, Parmod Kapahi, Sanjay Baru, Veenu Khanna, Jeet Angral, Keshav Chopra, Dinesh Mahajan, and others.
At City Chowk, MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma and MLA Yudhvir Sethi hoisted the `Tiranga’ amid cheers, with BJP leasders Priya Sethi, Purnima Sharma, Sunil Prajapati, Adarsh Jathiar, Hari Om Sharma and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said that Independence Day marks the day of our freedom and a tribute to the sacrifices of countless patriots who laid down their lives for the nation. He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is marching towards becoming a global power while safeguarding its cultural heritage and democratic values.
Ashok Koul stated that the day reminds us of our responsibility to uphold unity, integrity, and sovereignty. The enthusiasm across Jammu & Kashmir today reflects the unwavering patriotism of our people, he said.
Jugal Kishore Sharma said that this Independence Day holds special significance after the successful operation Sindoor, which gave a message to the world that nobody can undermine the sovereignty and the safety of our nation.
Khatana said that right from the last village on the borders to the heart of our cities, the Tricolor today flies high with pride. He said that we should continue to work towards a developed, safe, and prosperous India.
On the occasion of Independence Day, MLA Bahu Ch Vikram Randhawa hoisted the National Flag at 31 different locations across Bahu Constituency, celebrating the spirit of freedom, sacrifice, and patriotism with the people. The celebrations witnessed massive public participation, with people from all walks of life joining in the patriotic fervor.
Speaking on the occasion, Randhawa paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the nation and urged the younger generation to carry forward their legacy with dedication and responsibility.
BJP spokesperson amd chairperson of Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board Dr Darakhshan Andrabi unfurled Tiranga at Sultan-ul-Arifeen Higher Secondary Institute Srinagar which was attended by Waqf Board Members Dr G N Haleem, Syed Mohammad Hussain other prominent people from different walks of life.
In her speech Dr Andrabi said while we derive inspiration from our freedom fighters, we are committed to dedicatedly work for making India a developed nation in coming years as envisioned by our Prime Minister. “We feel pride in seeing Kashmiri people enthusiastically celebrating the glory of our national flag. It is a reply to those who used to say that there will be no one to uphold Indian flag here. After 2019, J&K witnessed great transformation under the leadership of LG”, Andrabi said.
BJP J&K vice president Rekha Mahajan led multiple Independence Day celebrations across Jammu, turning the 79th year of freedom into a vibrant festival of unity and pride.
Beginning the day at Arya Samaj, Trikuta Nagar, Rekha hoisted the Tricolour amid the singing of the National Anthem. She reminded everyone of the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters and soldiers, adding that the best tribute to them is to work together in realising PM Modi’s vision of a self-reliant, developed India. She also joined celebrations at the Bharat Vikas Parishad, Trikuta Nagar branch, alongside the Rotary Club team led by Vanita Kohli.
BJP workers celebrated the Independence Day with great enthusiasm and fervour, engaging with youths in a meaningful interaction at Sardar Udham Singh Park in Trikuta Nagar. The event was marked by a series of inspiring addresses and discussions that highlighted the significance of patriotism, national development, and the welfare initiatives of the government. BJP leader RL Kaith, paid rich tributes to the national heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country’s freedom.
Congress party celebrated the 79th Independence day at PCC Headquarters Shahedi Chowk, Jammu.
JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra hoisted the national flag in the presence of several senior Congress leaders of PCC, DCC and Congress Seva Dal besides party workers in large numbers were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Karra recalled the brief history of freedom struggle and the sacrifices of freedom fighters led by Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Moulana Azad and large number of other stalwarts of the freedom movement who underwent great sufferings for the generations to be liberated from British Raj .He paid rich tributes to those martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country and to defend and secure its territories and the sovereignty of the nation.
The function was organised by DCC Jammu Urban led by president Th Manmohan Singh, while flag hosting ceremony was conducted by Congress Seva Dal led by its chief Vijay Sharma.
Working president Raman Bhalla, PCC cheif spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, former ministers Yogesh Sawhney and Gurbachan Rana, Ved Mahajan Ex -MLC, Rajnish Sharma- Treasurer, T S Tony , Kanta Bhan, Shashi Sharma, Satish Sharma, Suresh Dogra, Gurdarshan Singh, Zahida Khan, Sanjeev Panda, Jatin Raina, Parveen Sarwar Khan, Dwarka Choudhary, KL Abrol, Kapil Singh, Vijay Shastri, Michael Wazir, Nassir Massi, Virender Manhas, Prof HR Sharma and many others were also present.
Indian Youth Congress (IYC), National president, Uday Bhanu Chib along with JKPCC vice president, Hari Singh Chib unfurled National flag in a function held at Lower Roop Nagar in Jammu North Assembly Constituency to mark the 79th Independence Day amidst the spirit of patriotism and unity.
The event saw enthusiastic participation of party leaders, social activists, Panchayat representatives, and local residents who gathered to pay tribute to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and to reaffirm their commitment towards nation-building.
Addressing the gathering, IYC chief highlighted the significance of Independence Day and the responsibilities of the younger generation. “This day is not only a celebration of our freedom but also a reminder of the supreme sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. Their courage and vision paved the way for a free and democratic India,” he added.
Hari Singh Chib emphasized the values of unity and democracy. “Independence Day teaches us the value of freedom and inspires us to protect the ideals of democracy, secularism, and brotherhood. Our society can only progress when we stand together, respect diversity, and work for the welfare of every section of the community.”
District Congress Committee DCC, Srinagar celebrated Independence Day at M.A Road Party office and unfurled the tricolour followed by a guard of honour ceremony.
DCC president Irfan Naqib unfurled the Tricolour followed by a guard of honour by the CRPF contingent. The programme witnessed jubilation by Congress workers and CRPF personnel, who sung the National anthem.
Senior Congress leader Surinder Singh Channi, Dr.Audil Farooq Mir Lasjan, Mushtaq Ahmad Bazaz and various other leaders were present on this occasion.
Irfan Naqib highlighted the selfless services and supreme sacrifices of freedom fighters during the freedom struggle led by Mahatma Gandhi to achieve freedom from the British Colonial rule.
Shiv Sena Hindustan, J&K Unit, celebrated the Independence Day in Arnia Block, with great enthusiasm and patriotism. The event was presided over by Pt Rajesh Kasri, State president of the party.
The national flag was hoisted in the presence of prominent local leaders and residents including Balwant Saini, Raj Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Vijay Luthra, and others.
The Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party (Bhim) marked the Independence Day with great enthusiasm and national pride at its Party headquarters in Jammu. The celebration commenced with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag by Vilakshan Singh, president of JKNPP, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
Addressing the gathering, Singh extended heartfelt greetings to all citizens of India on this historic occasion. He paid tribute to the countless freedom fighters whose supreme sacrifices paved the way for India’s independence. Singh also highlighted India’s remarkable journey from colonial rule to becoming one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.
NCP celebrated the Independence day at Udhampur with patriotic fervour and zeal.
A social and political activist Rishi Kilam, national spokesperson youth NCP said that India attained freedom from the Britishers after great sacrifices and struggle. Kilam further added that the nation owes a lot to Mahatma Gandhi and other heroes of struggle and freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the sake of freedom.
