Various measures discussed to increase production of honey

JAMMU, June 18: Stressing on strengthening existing apiculture infrastructure and increase in bee keeping units in Ramban Apiculture Cluster selected under Chief Minister’s Project for Agriculture Sector, Director Agriculture H K Razdan today asked the officers to regularly visit the colony centers, make inspections and undertake proper management measures for promoting apiculture.
Razdan while reviewing various farmers welfare programmes at Ramban and Banihal he asked officers to provide guidance and help while migrating colonies along the National Highway and at Lakhanpur Toll Post. He stressed upon the extension functionaries to motivate other farmers also to adopt bee-keeping as an enterprise to raise their income.
The Agriculture officers attended both the programmes and the Director Agriculture issued on spot instructions to officers for immediate respond to the technology needs of farmers to over come difficulties being faced in agriculture sector.
A detailed deliberation on various measures and steps to be taken to increase the productivity of honey, vegitables and agriculture crops in the district. Various flagship programmes under Soil Health Card Scheme, (SHCS), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana(PMKSY) and various other schemes were reviewed by the Director with officers.
