JAMMU, Feb 10: Former minister Abdul Gani Vakil has termed the adoption of dilly- dally tactics of PDP and BJP in forming the popular Government as an assault on the democratic mechanism and institutions. He said, both PDP and BJP are befooling the common masses and taking them for a ride for no fault of theirs.
In a press statement here, Mr Vakil said the alliance partners must decide about the future course of action without any delay as they are becoming a road block for other parties as well, that too, without any justified reason. He also said that both the alliance partners must clear their respective positions on delay in Government formation and finalize the fate of their alliance immediately besides explain to electorate causes of impasse in Government formation.
Mr Vakil said that the political uncertainty has adversely affected the routine administrative affairs particularly in the field. He said that matters of public importance are being put on the back burner on the pretext of formation of a new Government. He said that administrative mechanism has worsened badly and no one is listening to the grievances of the common man who voted despite all odds and ignored threat to life.
Former minister urged the Governor to initiate steps for activation of field administration at all levels because the situation in general in the State is not encouraging as accountability and responsiveness are missing in the administrative setup particularly at the district and lower level. He said people at the helm of affairs have started to behave like a mute spectators and consequently leaving the people at the mercy of God and left to face hardships.
Mr Vakil expressed surprise on the recent decisions of the Central Government like releasing Rs 1100 Crore for flood victims and decision of recruiting seven battalions from the State and asked that why such decisions had not come during the tenure of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
