REASI, July 8: One person was killed and eight others got injured when a Tata Sumo carrying Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims from Kanpur in Utter Pradesh collided head on with a Tipper at Shakti Nagar near Parth in Reasi.
The accident took place when the pilgrims were on way from Katra to Shiv Khori after paying obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. The Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK14A-4393 collided with Tipper JK11A-0843, which was on way from Parth to Pouni.
The deceased was identified as Anand Jaiswal (22), son of Ram Kumar of Kanpur while driver of the Sumo, Satbir Singh (35), son of Sukhdev Singh of Majalta was referred to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of critical injuries.
The other injured, admitted in PHC Pouni, were identified as Jai Singh son of Lal Bhai, Govind Verma son of Shiv Kumar, Ram Govind Jaiswal son of Gulab Chand, Deepak Jaiswal son of Devi Dayal, Avneesh Kumar son of Govind Jaiswal, Sanjay Jaiswal son of Manu Lal and Pardeep Avanti son of Naresh Kumar. All are resident of Kanpur and their condition was stated to be stable.
