V R M Burra assumes post of CMD POWERGRID

JAMMU, Apr 1: Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra has officially assumed the role of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna enterprise operating under the Ministry of Power. Prior to his elevation to the top post, he served as the company’s Director (Projects).
Burra’s appointment is a significant milestone in the organization’s leadership evolution, as he belongs to the very first batch of Executive Trainees inducted into POWERGRID in 1993. He brings over 33 years of diverse experience in the power transmission and telecom sectors, having held various leadership, policy-making, and strategic roles at both regional and corporate levels.
His professional expertise spans several critical business domains, including Projects and Procurement, Commercial and Regulatory Affairs, Asset Management & Telecom, and Key Architectural Roles & Reforms.
Throughout his three-decade tenure, Burra has been instrumental in shaping the company’s trajectory. As a founding member of POWERGRID’s Regulatory Cell, he played a crucial role in crafting the organization’s regulatory strategy and successfully positioning the company in the competitive power transmission market.
Additionally, during his stint as CEO of POWERGRID Teleservices Limited, he spearheaded the expansion of the telecom business and initiated the company’s first Data Centre project.
