JAMMU, Feb 15: Government has accorded sanction to the constitution of Union Territory level and District level Zoonosis Committees for effective prevention and control of zoonotic diseases in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the Government order, the UT level committee will be headed by Administrative Secretary of Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department and will include Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Mission Director NHM J&K, Director of Health Services Jammu/Kashmir, Director of Animal Husbandry Jammu/Kashmir, Principal, GMC Jammu/Srinagar, Drugs Controller J&K, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry Jammu, HoD of the Preventive & Social Medicine in GMC Jammu/Srinagar and HoD Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology in SKUAST Jammu/Kashmir as members.
Other members of the UT level committee will be Director/Incharge NIV North Zone Unit J&K, Surveillance officer of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) Jammu/Kashmir, Additional Director (Livestock Health) of the National Husbandry Disease Reporting System (NADRS) in Animal Husbandry Department and Nodal Officer of NADRS in Animal Husbandry Department. Programme Manager/State Nodal Officer of the IDSP NHM J&K will act as member secretary.
The district level committees will be headed by concerned Deputy Commissioner and its members will be Principal of the GMC if available in the district, Dean of the Veterinary College (if available), concerned Chief Medical Officer, concerned Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, HoDs of the Public Health/Community Medicine of GMC (if available) and Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology of the concerned district, District Surveillance Officer, District Nodal Officer (Animal Disease Surveillance) of Animal Husbandry Department and a representative each from Drugs Department, District Veterinary Laboratory and Forest, Ecology & Environment Department.
District Nodal Officer, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) shall be member secretaries of the district level committees.
