Usha Vohra inaugurates photo exhibition

JAMMU, Apr 10: In presence of N. N. Vohra, Governor, Usha Vohra, First Lady, inaugurated an exhibition of photographs titled “Ethnic Icons of Jammu and Kashmir” by O. P. Sharma, a local lensman and painter of Jammu, at Kala Kendra, here this evening.
This exhibition has been organized with the support of the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
The Governor and the First Lady went around the exhibition and evinced keen interest in the photographs. In his observations in the Visitors’ Book, the Governor lauded the beautiful pictures of the hill people, mostly Gujjars, Bakarwals and Ladakhis, which are being exhibited at the Kala Kendra. He observed that O. P. Sharma has been an avid photographer and painter, who has made a valuable contribution to the world of art and creativity.
The Governor and the First Lady wished Mr. Sharma continuing success and productivity in his chosen fields, particularly photography and painting.
As many as 40 photographs on varied themes are on display at the Exhibition which will remain open for public viewing for the next two days.
Among those present on the occasion were Khalid Bashir, Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Savita Bakshi, Additional Secretary of the Academy, artists, writers, intellectuals, academicians, art lovers, media persons and prominent citizens.
